Inside Out: Aldgate
Inside Out: Aldgate, was an applied art and history project, in which with women and girls from Aldgate shared their knowledge of the rich history of Aldgate from within. Through a series of community workshops, women with a connection to Aldgate were invited to present and examine the idea of community and what it means to be a woman in Aldgate. The workshops used art and drama to create a fun and relaxed space in which women and their families, felt free to share exactly what stories they feel are most relevant and reflect the real Aldgate. The project culminated in a sight specific, outdoor, interactive performance at the Aldgate Square festival. The performance highlighted the lives of women who had immigrated to Aldgate, past and present.
